Signing up for Sprint Family Locator is easy. Simply visit http://www.sprint.com/familylocator and click the link that says Sign Up Now. Enter your mobile phone number and you will receive a text message with a temporary password.
Note: If you have a My Sprint account and know your password, you can enter that instead of your temporary password.

It means that you are trying to add a phone to locate that is not on your Sprint account and the account holder for that phone has not yet granted you permission to locate it. The account holder needs to sign into his or her My Sprint account and grant you permission before you can locate that phone.

Corporate liable phones cannot be billed for Sprint Family Locator and cannot signup for the service.
Corporate liable phones can be located using Sprint Family Locator as long as they are being located by an individually liable account. For more information see Can I locate a phone on a different Sprint account?
Sprint Family Locator costs $5 per month to locate up to 4 phones. The charge will be added to your monthly Sprint bill.
No specific plan is necessary to sign up and locate a phone with Sprint Family Locator. If you want to access Sprint Family Locator from your mobile phone browser, a data plan is recommended. Yes, you can locate a phone that is not on your Sprint account. Sign in to Sprint Family Locator and click the Add button on the My Family tab, then select Add a phone from another Sprint account.
Note: Before you can locate a phone that is not your account, the account holder for the phone must give you permission by signing into his or her My Sprint account. For a step-by-step guide to adding a phone that is not on your account, please consult the Quick Start Guide.
If you would like to unsubscribe from Sprint Family Locator, please contact Sprint Customer Care (1-888-211-4727 (Sprint) or 1-800-639-6111 (Nextel)). You will continue to be billed the monthly charge until you notify Sprint Customer Care to terminate the subscription.
